We arrived in Nairobi about 5 days after our scheduled arrival time.   We were still on Cape Cod 2 days before heading back to Providence for the big trip and we heard on the news that the international arrivals terminal at Nairobi Intl Airport had burned down.   We already had bags packed and we were ready to go, but we decided to change our plans and rather than giving us a few days of figuring things out in Nairobi, we landed about 12 hours before the first day of school.

This photo of the kids is testament to their hardiness and resiliency.   We flew for about 20 hours, departing Providence on Monday at 2pm and arriving in Nairobi at 7pm Tuesday evening.   We drove to the hotel - couldn't move to the house yet because bed delivery was late - ate dinner, slept for about 5 hours, then went to school.   They look pretty awesome (and happy!) after all that....

Meanwhile, it was pretty cold those first few weeks.   I had to buy a fleece jacket because I was freezing!!!   It was just like Mark Twain said....the coldest winter I ever had was late summer in Nairobi...I mean San Francisco...
